||The DataMax story begins 13 years ago with a sports school that was tired of trying to keep all their information about students and classes in an archaic manual system of chart boards and journal paper. What they needed was an easy-to-use, professionally designed database program that would track classes and provide lots of financial, management, and marketing information about their business. Trouble was, however, no existing database management system could be found that met these criterion and maintained any level of cost sanity.
After doing some extensive research, the owners of this sports school discovered that many of their peers with other sports schools had tried to develop programs on their own, and were typically disappointed with the results. Conventional programmers usually charged thousands, even tens of thousands of dollars to develop a custom program. Worse yet, many sports schools found out that their custom program had merely institutionalized their own inefficiencies. The documentation associated with the custom program was either non-existent, incomplete or difficult to read. It soon became clear to this sport school that a system was needed for the gymnastics, dance, ballet, performing arts, marital arts, fine arts and swim school sectors that could simplify operations, improve the bottom line to the company and yet also act as a positive change agent.
In 1995, DataMax was formed with a charter to create a robust, full-featured, affordable, easy-to-use class registration program. The development of this program was unique and global. Unique because this the DataMax staff not only has years of experience in complex computer software and hardware system development, but also because this company's staff understands the dynamics of the class-oriented service industry. In fact, two key members of DataMax are still running a very successful swim school of their own. The genesis of ClassSmart was global in that a massive amount of input from schools just like yours was obtained to determine the required functionality of ClassSmart before coding the program.
Thus, from many years of hardware and software development experience and from many years of sports school experience...ClassSmart was born!
What makes ClassSmart so powerful and unique? Quite simply, ClassSmart continues to be designed and iterated based upon the direct feedback from our customers. Imagine that: a company that actually listens to what you want and solicits your opinions! The result: ClassSmart is a superior collection of best business practices from the entreprenueurdom of top service-oriented schools. 13 years of continuous development, refinment and program usage by our growing customer base. Countless person-to-person interviews, telephone conversations, fax's and tons of e-mail have come together to make ClassSmart the premier system that it is. This is our way of doing business, since our motto has always been: "Let the customer determine the requirements for the system and we'll know that it will work."
All the while, DataMax has kept the cost of ClassSmart affordable. So affordable, in fact, that you would spent much more money (and time) just developing the basic requirements for a program and the first bug-infested, geek-speak, feature-starved version of a custom database than the total cost of our database products.
ClassSmart is not, like so many other software programs, a user-hostile, fragmented collection of bits-and-pieces from one or two users thrown together with bizare neon-colored forms and screens. ClassSmart blends the talents of our programmers with the best practices of many schools merged together to benefit everyone. We have seen many competing products come and go, yet ClassSmart remains. We are here for you and have been since 1995.
